Interview for MEXT scholarship
Overseas interviews will be opened to Master and PhD scholarship candidates for "International Program for Developing the Sustainable River Basin-Social System Corresponding to Social and Environmental Changes" in University of Yamanashi, which is selected as the "International Priority Graduate Program (PGP) -Advanced Graduate Courses for International Students-" supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan. This course is managed by world-leading researchers on environmental sciences, medicine, economics and informatics, and covers a wide range of study fields required for practical resolution of region-specific environmental issues.

- Place & Date: Online (in December)
- Interview: Presentation on research achievements and future plan for 10 min, Q&A for 10 min
- Enrollment: October 2025
- Deadline of application: All the forms should be sent via e-mail to coeyamanashi.ac.jp by 2nd Dec. 2024
- Individual interview time will be informed via official email very soon for the applicants who pass the 1st screening.
We also welcome interviews for other scholarship or self-funded candidates.

Master course
- Number of scholarship awardees: Three
- Enrollment: October 2025 (scholarship for the next two years)
- Qualifications: (i) Bachelor degree/equivalent, (ii) under 35 years old at the time of enrollment, (iii) GPA over 2.3 out of 3.0, (iv) English score over B2 level in CEFR (after Jan 2023), or graduation from bachelor course taught in English (Please confirm "Language proficiency"), (v) experience/enthusiasm on water sciences & management
- (note) Scholarships for doctoral programs are not guaranteed after completion of the master's program.
- Electric files are acceptable for the 1st screening.

PhD course

Language proficiency
- (1) Applicants must pass or achieve scores in English language proficiency tests that correspond to B2 or higher level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) at the time of application. All scores for four skills (listening, reading, speaking, and writing) must be equivalent to CEFR B2 or higher.
- (2) Applicants must complete school curriculums that meet the conditions for admission in masters’ or doctoral courses at a Japanese graduate school by using English as the main language.
- (3) Applicants are regarded by the accepting universities as having English language ability equivalent to or better than (1).
